We had a good run of feeder cattle, selling approximately 1,850 head of cattle. There was a large variance of color, genetics and conditioning at this sale. The buyer's interest was geared towards genetics, flesh conditions and properly vaccinated/handled cattle. We had a decent crowd of buyers/producers on hand to purchase cattle and then they needed to get back to the fields. It's a tough job trying to battle with Mother Nature to get feed supplies and bedding put up in a timely fashion.
This sale was the first real test of numbers on the spring calves. Most of the sale consisted of smaller packages of cattle with only one load lot offered. There was moderate to good demand with interest steered towards the higher quality cattle that have been properly handled.
We have received compliments from Buyers expressing appreciation for the Early Listings. There are plenty of buyers that are willing to make the 3-4 hour trip knowing what is consigned with the intentions to make a pot load of cattle of a certain Sex/Weight. So Please keep calling your early consignments in.
Note: We are still gearing the Dairy/Beef X to the Holstein/Dairy X Sales. We are finding this is the best market and buyer interest for these cattle.
